The first Thin Client Bandwidth Manager (TCBM) from NEXterminal is impressive. When looking at the competition, all our competitors making thin clients, try really hard to beat each other with new terminals having lower prices, higher specs and new functionality. So does NEXterminal as well..... and even more! |
|
TCBM make all terminals, no matter brand, run more stable and better. NEXterminal, as an innovative company, was the first company in Europe to make Thin client laptop, now they are the first thin client brand to make thin clients run better... all clients, from all vendors. |
| |
|
Bandwidth constraints |
|
Most thin clients are located in branch offices, due to the nature of their low bandwidth requirements. Unfortunately branch offices does not have "unlimited" bandwith to the Citrix/ Terminal Servers at the main office. |
|
The available bandwidth at each location has to be shared among the users (and devices) on each location. Not all traffic traverses to to main office, some goes to Skype, some to VoIP, some goes to news sites, and some for downloading "all kind of files" from the public internet. |
|
If just one user uses widely available download tools, uses Skype (as a server), or a thin client user starts looking at a movie, or accidently gets a runaway flash browser, all thin clients, as well as VoIP, will immediately notice this in "slow image drawings, keyboard delays or echoing/ scratching in their VoIP phones". |
|
Any network administrator would in normal circumstances, notice the line was saturated (overbooked with network packets), and consider an upgrade of the local internet connection. The sad truth is, that you will probably (unless you have a huge amount of money) never have enough network capacity (or stability), no matter how big your internet line gets. |
| |
|
User behaviour |
|
We have seen organisations, purchasing new terminals to "hopefully" solve connection/ disconnetion problems. We have seen customers upgrading from a 2Mbit line to a 8Mbit line and to a 34Mbit line with significant monthly increase in costs, not solving the real problem..."Users and their behavior". |
|
A network administrator could also consider the use of a packeteer or Exinda box. This might solve the problem. However, with 40-100 locations to install and configure a packeteer box, not only will this require a huge budget, but so will the "social account" with your partner be. It simply takes too much time and is too expensive |
| |
|
Fast and easy |
|
The NEXterminal Thin Client Bandwidth Manager is the solution, it works in "transparent mode" and only needs to have 2 things set up; the upload and download speed. This is it! It will take someone about 5 minutes to install the device from unpacking to a running installation. |
|
The NEXterminal TCBM shares the available bandwidth among the devices in the network, that is printers, PC's, thin clients and other IP based devices, such as VoIP phones, Credit card terminals etc. As long as no IP address is contributing to network saturation, nobody will ever notice the useage of the NEXterminal TCBM. In other words people will notice that something has happened, they cannot describe it, but something has definitely happened. |
|
So what did happen? The TCBM limits the availale bandwidth for the devices that were saturating the internet line, and creates acceptable response times for all devices. It may be that the user utilizing all the bandwidth before may notice a "slower" line, but for sure it does not harm the productivity of the rest of the employees. |

Benefits of TCBM (Thin Client Bandwidth Manager) |
|
Comparing TCBM with Exinda or Packteer is like comparing apples with pears. But some vialble arguments in any comparisson are: |
-
TCBM has a 5 minute installation
-
TCBM does not require periodic analysis
-
TCBM does not care about protocols
-
TCBM does not do packet inspection
-
TCBM does not need a expert to configure, anyone can do it.
-
TCBM has a significant Return of Investment (ROI) as "a sure thing" (It solves the real issue, without the need for expensive installation).
-
TCBM does not steal you time with 1000 useless statistics reports
-
TCBM creates a stable and responsive network in minutes.
