2X Virtualisation Desktop Server |
Today 2X VDS is the only software supporting so many virtualisation platforms. Being vendor independent means that companies are not forced down a one-way street with any single proprietary software platform – it’s the first true ‘open’ virtualisation platform connection broker. |
Just released, 2X VirtualDesktopServer maximises the investment companies are making in virtualisation software and guarantees to work with the different vendors now and into the future. |
"2X VirtualDesktopServer acts as a hub for all types of competing virtualization technologies. It doesn’t matter whether your business is using Microsoft HyperV, VMWare, Sun VirtualBox or even a combination, our software lowers costs and improves control," says Nikolaos Makris, CEO of 2X Software. |
Many medium and larger companies are deciding to go down the virtualisation route for good business reasons, not least cost reduction and mobility. However, often they come up against administration and performance constraints. 2X software is designed to overcome these issues by providing centrally managed access to virtual desktops and applications – hosted on VMware, Microsoft, VirtualIron, Parallels, Sun VirtualBox and other leading virtualisation platforms. |

About 2X VirtualDesktopServer |
2X VirtualDesktopServer publishes any Windows application or virtual desktop onto remote computers, including Thin Clients, Mac and Linux PC’s without the need to install the application or desktop onto each user's machine. This saves significantly on administration and support. VirtualDesktopServer is designed to be highly cost-effective from the outset, particularly as its charging structure is based on the number of agents (servers) rather than per user, as the platform vendors favour. |

2X VirtualDesktopServer Features and Screenshots |
Multiple VDI Providers
2X VirtualDesktopServer now supports virtual desktops published from VMware, Sun VirtualBox, Microsoft Virtual Server, Microsoft Hyper-V, Virtual Iron, Parallels and Microsoft Terminal Server. Virtual desktops are load balanced over the available machines while automatically releasing unused resources. |
New Publishing Wizard
2X VirtualDesktopServer now incorporates a Publishing Wizard which will guide you through each step needed to setup Virtual Desktops, Published Applications and Published Desktops in the shortest amount of time. |
Publish applications and Desktops
2X VirtualDesktopServer allows you to publish particular applications installed on a Terminal Server onto the desktop of a remote user. For example you can tunnel just an accounts package onto a user’s local desktop without giving the user access to a full desktop or publish a full desktop as an application on the Terminal Server. |
Deepnet Unified Authentication Platform
Deepnet Unified Authentication is a single integrated platform for provisioning, managing and verifying all types of authentication, form-factors and user credentials. 2X VirtualDesktopServer provides this two-factor authentication using SafeID, FlashID, MobileID, QuickID, GridID, SecureID (RSA), DigiPass (Vasco). |
Native RDP Connections
Using the 2X Client you can now connected to a machine running Microsoft Terminal Server using a Remote Desktop Protocol connection. Administrators can easily configure desktop connections and publish applications using one tool. |
Embedded Desktops
With your 2X Client you can now use Embedded Desktops. This allows you to load a number of different Virtual Desktops inside one application. Switching between the different desktops is as simple as clicking on a different tab. |
Seamless integration with local desktop & taskbar
To the user the remote application appears exactly like a local application. Remotely hosted applications will automatically show up in the local task bar and/or on the desktop. If your users minimize a remote application, the application minimizes to the local taskbar. You can also copy and paste between local and remote applications too. |
Publish applications based on username, group membership or IP
Since 2X VirtualDesktopServer integrates with Active Directory, you can easily control which users get which applications. When configuring an application to be tunneled, simply specify which users, groups, organizational units or IPs the application should be tunneled to. Windows 2000 or 2003 server with Terminal Services |
Active Web Portal
Dynamic web interface which displays a list of published applications and desktops to the user based on filtering criteria, such as IP, Username, Client |
Multiple Monitor Support
Display published applications and desktops on multiple monitors (up to 10) without the need to upgrade to Windows 2008 |
Single Signon
2X Client can now utilize the currently logged in user credentials to connect to VirtualDesktopServer farms |
Multiple farms
The 2X Client can now connect to multiple farms simultaneously, allowing the user of farms located worldwide and even within different organisations |
Integration with 2X LoadBalancer farms
2X VirtualDesktopServer now integrates fully with 2X Loadbalancer, allowing publishing of applications on Terminal Server farms and SSL secure connectivity for clients accessing Applications remotely |
Universal Printing
2X VirtualDesktopServer now incorporates a Universal Printer driver, eliminating the need to manage and install printer drivers on your Terminal Server. The user can print either to their default locally attached printer or have the document displayed in a PDF reader such as Acrobat Reader. |
Automatic Redundancy
Automated redundancy of the Publishing agent, now allows for multiple backup VirtualDesktopServers to be in place, in case of failure or the need to take the primary machine offline. Any machine can be promoted to the Master in the event of the master machine no longer being available. This teamed with the ability to install multiple client gateways provides a totally redundant solution for your Enterprise |
Associated File Extensions
Allows the Administrator to register specific file extensions to a published application, this enables the user to open a file from his local drive (requires Windows 2003 to support drive redirection) and to run and display it in the published application. |
Publish Windows applications onto Linux
All popular Linux distributions are supported, as well as 2X ThinClientServer Free edition & 2X ThinClientServer Enterprise edition |
